Q4: Installation FAQ

September 7, 2021

A4:

Q1. Do surfaces need to be prepared?

A. Soft tiles requires virtually no preparation to lay, no need to pre-screed existing concrete. Ideal for uneven floors! Lay directly on to wooden floors, short grass, patio tiles, decking, carpet, concrete, paving etc.

Q2. Can the foam mats be fixed down permanently?

A. Yes, we recommend NEC approved double sided fixing tape for fixing down EVA foam mats.

IMPORTANT

It is advisable to leave a 1/4 inch gap around your floor area to allow for expansion and reduce the risk of the mats lifting.

Q3. Can mats be fitted above under floor heating?

A. Although we have laid our soft mats on heated floors, we recommend finding alternative flooring for permanent domestic installations on heated floors. To prevent warped surfaces and condensation damage, please ensure to leave room for expansion/contraction of floor tiles and do not seal air-tight.

Q4. Can the foam mats be cut to fit?

Q4: Installation FAQ

A. Yes, the mats can be cut for a custom fit. In this case you should order a little more than your room size and trim along two walls in the room using. The mat are easily cut using an stanley knife or a utility knife and a straight edge. When cutting the mats leave at least a 1/4 inch gap (6-9 mm) between the mat and the wall for any expansion.

Q5. How long do the mats last?

A. Our EVA foam mats are very durable and should last for many years in reasonable conditions. However, they are not indestructible and can be indented permanently or even cut by sharp objects such as stiletto heel shoes. A 1 year manufacturers guarantee is provided with all our mats for your peace of mind.

Q6. What is the best way to clean the mats?

A. For dry dirt, dust and gravel it is best to sweep or vacuum the mats. For stubborn dirt and spillages, it is best to wipe the mats with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
